why we exist

We exist to call men and women to celebrate and be changed by the life, death and resurrection of Jesus and His Lordship over all of life - for the good of our city and the world.

In the gospel we meet a God who has acted decisively in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus to redeem and restore people to Himself. Jesus lives the life we could not live, dies the death that we deserve to die, and is raised from the dead and revealed to be the King over all creation. This was no arbitrary event in history; it is the decisive moment. The gospel tells the whole story of Biblical history and how God has acted decisively in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus to redeem the world for His glory. Preaching the gospel means showing how Jesus is the fulfillment and goal of every biblical text.

Our doctrine

While we don't know where you are in your walk of faith, we do understand that you may have questions about Summit of Peace and what we believe.

Summit of Peace accepts and preaches the Bible-based teachings of Martin Luther that inspired the reformation of the Christian Church in the 16th century. The teaching of Luther and the reformers can be summarized in the following phrases: Christ Alone, Grace Alone, Faith Alone, Scripture Alone, & Glory to God Alone.

Our Core Beliefs

  1. That the Holy Scriptures are the true, inspired and authoritative Word of God.
  2. That God is a Triune God who is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
  3. That humans are born sinful and in need of God's forgiveness, love, and grace.
  4. That our sins are forgiven through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, both true God & true man.
  5. That God's Word, Holy Baptism, and the Lord's Supper are ways that God brings His forgiveness and grace into our lives.
  6. That eternal life is a free gift from God by grace through faith in Jesus Christ.
  7. That Jesus Christ will one day return as victorious Lord of all.

"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-not by works, so that no one can boast." Ephesians 2:8-9
