It is the will of our Lord Jesus Christ that His disciples should reach the Gospel to the whole world and administer the sacraments (Mark 16:15, Matthew 28:18-20, Acts 1:8). In order that Christ's mission for His church be carried out according to His will, He has commanded that Christians unite in one another (Acts 2:43); witness to all people (Acts 1:8); help each other to grow in the Word (Ephesians 4:11-14); serve the needs of all in Christian love (Ephesians 4:7, 15-16; Mark 10:42-44; John 13:25; Galatians 6:10); administer the Office and Keys of His Church (John 20:21-23, Matthew 18:15-20); and maintain decency and order in the Church (1 Corinthians 14:40)."

"We, the members of Summit of Peace Evangelical Lutheran church. Acknowledge with deep gratitude that our Lord and God has chosen us to be His own. Responding to God's love and grace to us in Jesus Christ, we dedicate ourselves to carry out God's mission and to witness and spread the news of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ throughout our congregation, our community, the nation, and the world to the best of our God-given abilities and resources. We dedicate ourselves to continued spiritual growth, fellowship, witnessing, education, spiritual care and service among God's people and all of our neighbors. Finally, by the grace of God and through the talents of His people, we will endeavor to build a church home for our congregation symbolizing our commitment to expand God's Kingdom and spread the Word of the Gospel." Therefore in summary, we the members of Summit of Peace responding to God's love and selfless concern, dedicate ourselves and our congregation to:

PROCLAIM OUR SALVATION, BUILD HIS KINGDOM.

In many ways members of Summit of Peace serve their Lord and His Church. We recognize the many challenges that face us as a new mission congregation. However, through strength in our belief in the one true God we are determined to endure and promote the Kingdom of Christ. Compelled by our love for our Lord and His Father's Kingdom, we are committed to all His work. We should contribute to the support of the church and its works. We should study God's Word and seek in every way to extend its influence. We should always bring to it the best we have, not of gifts and services only, but also of love and personal helpfulness.

To accomplish our mission and ministry objectives we have established goals to work toward in the areas listed as follows:

  • Nurture and encourage our membership to grow in its Christian education.
  • Continue teacher training sessions.
  • Stephen Ministry Caring Evangelism program.
  • Recognize the Sunday Schools contribution through the newsletter.
  • Increase our Sunday School enrollment by 10% each year with a goal of 10% increase Sunday in Adult Bible Class per Sunday.

  • Our goal is that all members of Summit of Peace be Christian stewards of God's gifts, which includes our time, talent, and treasures so that whatever we do is done to the honor and glory of God. Encourage all members to recognize that service to God encompasses their whole lives: as husband, wife, parent, employee, citizen, etc.
  • Encourage all members to recognize their individual talents and actively participate in carrying out the task within the Church.

  • Our goal is to increase our worship attendance each year.
  • Continued outreach to visitors at services and to the community.
  • Encourage and contact delinquent members to worship.
  • Remain flexible in offering variations in worship services within Scriptures admonition "to do all things in decency and order.": Special Services - Varied Liturgies - lay-member participation.

Mission and Ministry does not involve a special seasonal emphasis. Growth in stewardship encourages the Christian to grow in faith and continue to grow in the stewardship of his/her total life until the Lord calls him/her to himself for eternity. Reflection and evaluation serves a vital dimension for us as we move forward in mission and ministry.

We should always strive to work together, recognizing that our priority is no different than what the church's priority has been throughout the ages: Teaching all nations and making disciples by the proclamation of God's Word and Administration of the Sacraments. With this in mind we will always strive to remain faithful to God's Word. We will work toward attainable goals in mission and ministry. We will challenge each other and our congregation to give our best and leave the rest in God's hands, for He will bless us according to His Will. Let us move forward with faith, remembering our heritage, but always pressing forward to the goal of God in Christ Jesus. In all this may we always remember that it is God who gives us energy, strength, and ideas, and may the words of the Apostle Paul be our guide:

"And whatever you do, whether in word or deed,
do it all in the name of Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him."

Colossians 3:17
